Society and Culture During the 3rd Republic
The Philippines emphasized on the American way of life. In 1948, comunity schools were alsso established to help improve community work. Since the 1930's, Filipino writers wrote in tagalog and they also wrote plays about the Filipino culture. During the post-war years, Filippino women had worked with men to make both ends meet. It was the year of women empowerment. Women's movements were already formed during the first decade of the 20th century. The Makibaba was founded by Lorena Barros to address the suffrage of women during the Martial law, it was allied with the National Democratic Front.
