Corazon Aquino prioritized the reorganization of the government and the restoration of the Philippines. Corazon removed the government officials under Marcos. The objective of the Comprehensive Agarian Reform Law was to transfer ownersip of farmlanfs from the landowners to the tenants. Aquino's administration was confronted by attempts by the military rebels to overthrow her administration. The people continued to believe and support the Aquino government. In June 1991, Mount Pinatubo erupted, it killed hundreds of people it was a disaster. Another disaster took place in November 1991, the Ormoc flooding killed more than 6,000 people. The Senate voted to reject the treaty that would have extended the presence of US military bases in the Philippines for more than 10 years. US military presence in the country continued ot be felt despite the rejection of the said treaty.
