Availability vs. Self-Centeredness

What does "He who gives too late who waits to be asked" mean? I think it means giving priority to others ahead of yourself. Availability is when you make your priorities secondary to the needs of the people who you serve. Availability is also in the Bible, one of my verses about Availability is Mark 1:17-18, "And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men and immediately they left their nets and followed him." Availability is also when you change plans with friends to help your family. The rewards of availability are, the success of those you help, and stability. Isn't Availability cool? You can start being available when you put others ahead of yourself, and be glad to serve other people.
